My dad in a very cynical tone used to say: “work sucks then you die”

And I believe it was Nietzsche who said: “he who has a why can bear almost any how”

I’ve found my ‘why’ in writing and my partner and our little life together — and like Nietzsche said, I lean on that ‘why’ heavily to get me through my day job.

Great post, Max

I got that exact advice from my dad! Weird.

That is a good answer - something to look forward to after a long day of suffering. It’s actually enriching in a weird way. I’m reminded of how Nietzsche would be ill for days at a time, and when he was well enough to write, it was something of a euphoria.

I’d like to imagine we create a similar dynamic by balancing writing and the day job.

Haha that is weird.

Yes, it seems the struggle seems to enrich the good moments.

Thanks Max :)

ahh, sorry about that - it stands for non-playable character. It originated from video games where there would be other characters who are programmed to help you, assign tasks, give you weapons, etc.

It’s become synonymous with mindlessly following a script for how to act and think.

And do report back when you find the answer! i’d love to learn too
