The invisible fist is in in our collective (eek!) face for those with eyes to see!
There’s nothing like inverted socialism for those who own everything. That they strive for even more provides a clue to how depraved they are. Norm MacDonald circa 1995: “in 1995 Bill Gates is once again the richest man in the country. But it still makes him sad to see other people with anything whatsoever “
This will be in history books some day. You know I always say that in America comedians tell the truth and politicians lie. I actually feel like I just took a dive into a cold lake and got slapped in the face. Bravo! Ever considered stand-up? Best Substack I've read today in the last 10 minutes!
Funny enough, I attempt something akin to stand-up comedy in my podcast. You can tell my jokes in it are funny because I laugh at them (can't afford a laugh track just yet - hopefully one day).
Listened to the podcast, really enjoyed it! Such a great tribute to Fisher. If you like Kafka btw, my favourite short story of his is The Country Doctor, here's a link - https://www.101bananas.com/library2/countrydoctor.html
I love Marx! This post is just a riff from a joke in a podcast episode about Capitalist Realism. Don't worry, Marx gets name-dropped and quoted in that episode 😉
I can't recommend this post enough. Now I have to go get groceries and another punch in the face.

Thank you Rob, that's a vibe I can get behind!

You’re my favorite writer on Substack, Max. I mean that.
Thank you Jake 🥹
Looking forward to listening to the podcast, I've touched on Fisher and capitalist realism in my podcast too. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Craig! I'll be sure to check it out :-)

If you haven't already, give it a read!
Why no mention of Marx? He told us about the invisible fist.

Next week: Getting Fisted by Fascism.
Cannot believe I had the self-restraint to avoid making a fisting joke in this entire thing lmao
Uber destroyed the taxi industry. Why are there still medallion cabs in NYC? Amazon shut down bookstores? No one… cares.
This essay had promise. It could be something, it could’ve “questioned capitalism”

What really happened with off shoring and trade from 1970 and onward?
Health care and insurance companies, in bed with govt or not?
And yes, the social safety. How much does the Republican addiction, TAX CUTS FOR EVERYONE EVERY FIVE YEARS, threaten this?
Also, what happened with this graph? Is it neoliberal propaganda? Or is it a real
Thing? What/who gets the credit?
