There is no inherent meaning to life, and we all lose in the end, but bestowing a meaning to life makes it meaningful to you, and that matters a lot. You have ONE life in ONE universe. What do you want to do with it? I ask myself this.
I don't think we have one life. We have one life as this character we are in this one. But we have other lives ahead of us. I like this idea. I always think to myself, if I'm fucking this up, right now, I will have another try in the next one. Feels relaxing in my head.
Yes, these are extremely typical, human perspectives to hold. I like that idea, too; I wish it felt true to me, too. The comforting thought of an afterlife (or suchlike) is exactly that: comforting and relaxing.
Philosophers, psychologists, behavioural- and neuroscientists etc try to understand what’s really going on under the hood. As an intellectually honest INTJ rationalist, I’m cursed to be attracted to figuring out the truth, as I care more about what’s real that what I want to be real.
